This policy explains what personal information Mindful Matching collects, why, who can see it, and your rights. Mindful Matching is a dating app run by Kwabi Games Limited (“we”, “us”), a company registered in England and Wales (number 11251758) at 124 City Road, London EC1V 2NX. We are the controller of your personal data.
| Information | Where it comes from | Who can see it |
|---|---|---|
| Email address and password | You, when you sign up | Only us. Passwords are handled by Google Firebase Authentication; we never see them |
| First name or nickname, age | You | Other members you're suggested to, and your matches |
| Photos (up to 6), bio, prompt answers, voice intro, why you're here | You (all optional) | Other members you're suggested to, and your matches |
| Questionnaire answers and your personality type | Your answers; we work out the type | Your type is shown on your profile. Your individual answers are only seen by you and our matching system |
| Dating preferences: your gender, who you're interested in, your age range | You, only if you give explicit consent | Only you and our matching system. Never shown on your profile |
| Likes, notes sent with likes, matches, unmatches and blocks | Your activity | A like and its note are seen by the person you liked. Unmatches and blocks are private |
| Your area: the town you pick from a list, and how far you'd travel | You | Other members see the town name and roughly how far away it is (for example “Leeds · ~12 mi”). Never your exact location |
| Messages | You and your matches | You and the person you're chatting with. We can access them if they're reported or the law requires it |
| Meet-up plans (time, place, note) | You and your match | You and your match |
| Date feedback: whether you met, how it went, whether you'd like a second date | You, after a date | Only us. If you both say you'd like a second date, we tell you both |
| Reports you make, and reports about you | Members | Our reviewers only. We never tell anyone who reported them |
| Notification token and device type | Your phone, if you turn on notifications | Only us |
We don't use your phone's location (GPS), and we don't collect your contacts or payment details, and we don't use advertising or tracking tools.
| What we do | Legal basis (UK GDPR) |
|---|---|
| Run your account, show your profile, suggest people, let you like, match, chat and arrange dates | Contract: we need it to provide the service you signed up for |
| Filter suggestions by gender, who you're interested in and age range | Your explicit consent, because these can reveal your sexual orientation |
| Learn from date feedback to improve your suggestions | Legitimate interests: better matches for you and other members |
| Keep members safe: screen photos, review reports, hide or suspend accounts, track no-shows and late cancellations | Legitimate interests (a safe service) and legal obligation (the Online Safety Act 2023) |
| Send notifications about likes, matches, messages and dates | Your consent, given through your phone's notification permission |
| Report illegal content to the police or the National Crime Agency | Legal obligation |
Your gender combined with who you're interested in can reveal your sexual orientation, which the law treats as special category data. That's why adding them is optional, needs a separate consent you tick yourself, and is stored privately away from your profile. We only use them to decide who to suggest to you and who to suggest you to. You can change them, or withdraw consent and delete them, at any time in Settings → Dating preferences. Withdrawing doesn't affect anything we did before.
You can object to any of this, or ask a person to look again at something that affects you, by emailing kwabigames@gmail.com.
We don't sell or rent your data. We use these providers to run Mindful Matching, and they may only use your data on our instructions:
Other members see what's described in section 1. We will share information with the police, the National Crime Agency or other authorities where the law requires it, or where someone is at risk of serious harm.
Our server functions run in Google's data centres in the United States, so your data is processed outside the UK. Google and Expo protect transfers under data processing terms that meet UK data protection law.
You have the right to access a copy of your data, correct it, delete it, restrict or object to how we use it, take it with you, and withdraw consent. Most of this you can do in the app: Settings › Download my data gives you a copy of everything we hold about you as a file (the download link works for 24 hours). For anything else email kwabigames@gmail.com. We'll reply within one month. If you're unhappy with how we've handled your data, you can complain to the Information Commissioner's Office at ico.org.uk/make-a-complaint.
Data is encrypted in transit. Access rules in our database mean members can only read what's meant for them, and only a small number of reviewers can see reports. No system is perfectly secure; if a breach puts you at risk, we'll tell you and the ICO as the law requires.
Mindful Matching is only for people aged 18 and over. If we learn that someone under 18 has an account, we remove it.
We'll update this policy when the app changes. We'll tell you in the app about any change that significantly affects you. The date at the top shows the latest version.
